Islamabad, August 24, 2025 – China has once again underlined its unwavering support for Pakistan, describing the Pakistan Army as a “pillar of national stability” and a “guardian of Pakistan–China friendship.”
The remarks came after a high-level meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Islamabad on August 22.
Beijing’s Praise for Pakistan Army
In a statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi commended the role of Pakistan’s military in strengthening bilateral ties and ensuring regional peace.
“The Pakistani Army is a pillar of stability and a strong guardian of our friendship,” he said, highlighting that the armed forces have consistently ensured the successful implementation of agreements made by both countries’ leaderships.
Wang Yi also emphasized that in the face of shifting global challenges, Pakistan–China relations have proven durable and increasingly vital for regional stability. He reiterated that China places Pakistan at the heart of its neighborhood diplomacy.
“Iron Brother” Partnership
Field Marshal Asim Munir, on his part, described China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and reaffirmed the nation’s deep-rooted commitment to this partnership.
He said the people of Pakistan view the bilateral relationship as “solid as a rock,” reflecting the consensus across the political and social spectrum.
The army chief thanked China for its enduring support in Pakistan’s economic and social development, calling the cooperation a cornerstone of mutual progress.
Security of Chinese Projects in Pakistan
Addressing ongoing concerns, General Munir assured the Chinese leadership that Pakistan remains fully committed to protecting Chinese projects, institutions, and personnel working in the country.
He stressed that counter-terrorism and security measures will be further enhanced to ensure the safety of ongoing development initiatives, many of which fall under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
A Relationship Built on Mutual Trust
Both sides reaffirmed their determination to strengthen cooperation in defense, trade, and regional security. Wang Yi noted that “despite global uncertainties, the Pakistan–China partnership has only grown stronger,” and pledged Beijing’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
