Islamabad, August 19, 2025 – The Foreign Office confirmed on Tuesday that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will arrive in Islamabad on August 21 to co-chair the sixth round of Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar.

According to the FO, the upcoming meeting is part of the ongoing series of high-level exchanges aimed at strengthening the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two nations. Discussions are expected to cover trade, defence, energy, infrastructure, and regional peace.

The previous round of the dialogue was held in May 2024 in Beijing, where Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi reviewed progress on bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed mutual support in critical sectors.

This latest development coincides with Wang Yi’s ongoing visit to India, where he recently met Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. During that meeting, Wang emphasized that China and India should view each other as partners rather than rivals, highlighting the resumption of dialogue and improving stability along border areas.

Just last month, Dar and Wang held talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, where they discussed collaboration in agriculture, mining, industry, and security.

Wang Yi had earlier stated that China is committed to working closely with Pakistan to implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries and to build a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

In February this year, President Asif Ali Zardari also met Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing, where both sides once again reaffirmed their resolve to deepen the strategic cooperative partnership.

The upcoming Islamabad dialogue is expected to further cement Pakistan-China ties, expand economic cooperation, and strengthen their joint commitment to regional stability and development.
