Pakistan Cracks Down on Illegal Betting and Trading Apps
46 Apps Banned for Gambling, Forex, Binary Trading, and Data Privacy Risks
Web Desk – August 21, 2025
In a major move against online gambling and unregulated trading, Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has officially blacklisted 46 mobile applications. The crackdown targets apps involved in illegal betting, casino-style games, and unauthorized forex and binary trading, citing serious risks to users’ finances and personal data.
The NCCIA highlighted popular gambling apps such as 1xBet, Chicken Road, Aviator Games, Dafabet, 22Bet, Casumo, Rabona, 10Cric, Plinko, and Bet365 as part of the banned list. Many of these platforms are widely used in Pakistan and the surrounding region.
Alongside gambling apps, several unregulated forex and binary trading platforms were also blocked due to their potential for financial scams and unauthorized money transfers.
The agency further warned about apps that access sensitive personal information, including SIM card and mobile number details, which could lead to identity theft, data misuse, and privacy breaches.
The NCCIA has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to immediately block these apps and urged citizens to avoid unverified applications to protect both their money and personal information.
