The United Nations (UN) has announced the release of $600,000 to support emergency relief efforts for families affected by severe flooding in Pakistan. The aid comes after continuous monsoon rains triggered flash floods, leaving communities devastated across multiple provinces.

According to UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, the assistance will be used to provide shelter, medical aid, hygiene kits, clean drinking water, and education support, with a special focus on the protection of women and girls. He added that Pakistan’s authorities, in collaboration with the UN and humanitarian partners, are leading the rescue and relief operations.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revealed that in the last ten days alone, over 400 people lost their lives and nearly 200 sustained injuries, while more than 20,000 individuals remain displaced. Since the start of the 2025 monsoon season on June 26, Pakistan has reported 798 deaths and over 1,000 injuries nationwide.
Authorities fear the crisis could worsen, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more heavy rainfall in the coming days, heightening the risk of additional flooding in already vulnerable areas.
