The squad is largely the same as the one currently featuring in the ongoing T20 tri-series against Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, UAE selectors have added pacer Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh to bolster the lineup.

UAE’s Asia Cup History and Tournament Format

This will mark UAE’s second appearance in the Asia Cup, having last featured in 2016 when the tournament was held in Bangladesh.

The 2025 edition includes eight teams divided into two groups of four. The top two from each group will progress to the Super Four stage, with the best two sides qualifying for the final showdown.

High Stakes Ahead of T20 World Cup

The Asia Cup is not only a battle for regional supremacy but also serves as crucial preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka.

For UAE, led by Muhammad Waseem, the tournament presents an opportunity to test themselves against Asia’s cricketing giants and showcase their growing talent on a global stage.
